CRAZY AS IT MAY SOUND!  t he new tax regulations for the salaried class in Pakistan have introduced significant changes, often referred to as a "tax bomb." These changes, effective from July 1, 2023, are part of the amended Finance Bill 2023, aiming to increase government revenue amidst economic challenges. Key Changes in Tax Rates: Tax Exemptions and Initial Slabs : Annual income up to Rs. 600,000 remains tax-free. Income from Rs. 600,001 to Rs. 1,200,000 is taxed at 2.5% of the amount exceeding Rs. 600,000​ ( FM World Pakistan ) ​​ ( Pakistan Today ) ​. Middle Income Slabs : For income between Rs. 1,200,001 to Rs. 2,400,000, a fixed tax of Rs. 15,000 plus 12.5% on the amount exceeding Rs. 1,200,000 applies.
